Breast Unit Manager

  • Qualifications: DCR (R), Certificate Mammography

Qualified in 1976 from St Jamesís University Hospital Leeds. Moved to York District Hospital 6 months latter to undertake various roles in general radiography, and then specializing in mammography & angiography. In 1985 I was asked to become a member of the North Yorkshire Breast Screening implementation Committee and then Superintendent of the Programme. I moved to Addenbrookes Breast Unit as Technical Manager in 1992 and took up the role as Quality Assurance Radiographer for the Anglia Region. In 1996 I asked to take up the role as Service Manager to the Chelmsford & Colchester Breast Unit and became Quality Assurance radiographer for the Thames Region. I came to the Princess Grace Breast Unit as Manager in 2000 to implement the first digital mammography system in the UK and formulate a breast team. Member of the National Digital Advisory Group.

Publications: Recall to assessment anxiety / Proactive approach to screening the over 70ís National Quality Assurance Manual for Radiographers / National Quality Control Manual for Radiographers / Analysis of Pain from Mammography.

Hobbies/interests: Passion for sailing and qualified as a Yacht Master in 1986. Walking my two German Shepherds.
